What kind of seeds are you planting in your business?
What are others planting for you?
Are they good or bad seeds?
These are questions you need to ask yourself when you are running a business.
Seeds are typically a good thing for your business however every now and then you get a thistle growing and they start spreading like wildfire!
So how do you attract the sunflowers instead of the weeds?
I mean besides becoming Snow White and talking to the birds – HA!
The answer is customer service.
When a customer feels welcomed, and appreciated they will spread that feeling to their friends as well. Meaning when their friends are in need of your services they will gladly shout your name, and before you know it you have a field of sunflowers growing and all you did was make one person feel extra special.
But sometimes a thistle gets in there, and those things multiply like rabbits!
They say good news travels fast but bad news travels faster and they’re correct!
How many times have you told a bad experience over and over simply because you’re upset and you want everyone to know about it?
So how do we fix it?
You first need to weed the garden.
You need to figure out what kind of weed you have and see what the necessary steps are to get it under control.
How bad is it? Do you do need to just cut your losses ,spray the weed killer, til it under and walk away?
Or do you give it the tender love and care it needs and fix it?
But how do those pesky weeds even get there?
Believe it or not, but a lot of times we are the root of it.
Just like a garden, if we don’t manage our business the weeds will grow.
Yep, this last summer my flower garden was over taken by weeds and I couldn’t figure out why until I realized when we were mowing we were shooting the grass straight into the garden… once we realized the problem we corrected it and everything is starting to get back to normal.
But believe me it wasn’t an easy task, it took days of hard work, digging, and lots of Ibuprofen to get it back under control.
In your business this could look like:
Failure to return a message in a properly manner, or at all.
Failure to fully communicate with your customer the policies, etc.
Maybe you even vent to a customer about your business and they take it the wrong way.
There are so many factors that can plant those weeds, but everything can be fixed and maintained with the right amount of tender love and care.
However… are you prepared to do the work it takes?
Before you know it you’ll have a field full of sunflowers to run around in!
